The Train
The Golden Chariot is a luxury tourist train, connecting the important tourist spots in the Indian states of Karnataka, Goa, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry depending on the selected itinerary. Named after a renowned world heritage site, the Stone Chariot in Hampi; the regalia promises to take the enthusiasts on a journey through the eternal historical marvels, swish palaces, innate wildlife and serene beaches.
General Information
The Golden Chariot is an upgraded version of world famous Palace on Wheels and started in 2008.
The Golden Chariot Train is now operating on two different 7 Nights circuits of South India, both tours departing from Bangalore on alternate Mondays viz. Pride of South and Southern Splendour.
Highlights of “Pride of South” train tour circuit includes visit to Mysore Palace , Kabini Tiger Reserve , UNESCO World Heritage Site of Hampi Palace ruins,Golden Beaches of Goa & UNESCO World Heritage Site of Badami Cave sculptures.
Highlights of “Southern Splendour” train tour circuit includes visit to former French Colony of Pondicherry, Beaches & Backwaters of Kerala,besides UNESCO World Heritage site of Brihadeeswara Temple.
Coaches
Each one of the 18 thematic coaches onboard The Golden Chariot is designed to be your very own personal kingdom. The 44 cabins, fully equipped with modern amenities like wi-fi environment, plasma TV and attached baths. Yet, it is set in the past. The cabins are inspired and draws heavily from the Mysore and Belur-Halebidu schools of art and architecture.

Nala and Ruchi Restaurants
The train has two restraints in board that dish out vegetarian and non-vegetarian cuisines. The vegetarian restaurant is named after Nala the mythological chef. While the non-vegetarian restaurant Ruchi means fine taste in Sanskrit, the language of ancient India. The interior décor of the restaurants is based in the ruins of Hampi and Halebid. The restaurants have two/four seater cabins that ensure privacy and comfort during your meals.
Madira – Lounge Bar
The Golden Chariot also has a bar on board that allows the passengers to enjoy fine spirits. The passengers can also watch performances by local artisans as they savor their drinks and reflect on the day’s travel. The elegant seating and decor at the bar is modeled after the world famous Mysore Palace.
Conference Coach
The Golden Chariot ensures that even while traveling amongst the historical sites in Karnataka, its privileged passengers do not let their work suffer. The train has all the modern facilities and equipments that make it an office on the move. The train has a separate conference coach that has a seating capacity for up to thirty business leaders. The coach also has a forty two inch LCD television and offers high speed internet connection so as to allow its passengers connected with the world outside.
Gym Coach
The passenger’s aboard the Golden Chariot do not have to miss their daily exercise regimen while they enjoy a quaint heritage tour on a luxury train. The golden Chariot has separate gym coach that has an Ayurveda centre along with a spa and a gym to help passengers relieve stress and remain healthy.

Itinerary
Registration and Check in at Yashwantpur Railway Station from 08:30hrs onwards.
Morning departure from Yashwantpur Railway Station at 09:45hrs.
Lunch, onboard as train arrives into Nanjangud at 13:30hr.
Proceed, to Bandipur Wildlife sanctuary at 14:4 hrs (1hr 30 minutes’ drive).
Evening Safari (16:30 hrs to 18:30 hrs).
Return to train by 20:15hrs. and dinner onboard as train proceeds to Mysore.
Overnight on the train at Mysore.
Breakfast onboard.
Proceed to visit Mysore Palace.
Return to train for lunch after which optional visit to Srirangapatnam.
Dinner onboard as train proceeds to Banavar (20:00 hrs), watering and fuelling.
Breakfast onboard.
Visit Halebidu from Banavar Railway Station.
Lunch onboard as train proceeds to Chikamgaluru.
Evening visit to Coffee Plantation followed by cultural activities and dinner at Chikamgaluru.
Return to train as it proceeds to Hospet.
Breakfast onboard.
Visit Hampi ruins.
Return to train for lunch onboard.
Evening free.
Dinner onboard as train proceeds to Goa.
Arrive Karmali.
Post breakfast, visit the churches of North Goa. Deboard at 09:00 and return at 12:00 noon.
Lunch onboard as train proceeds to Madgaon.
Evening Gala Dinner activity at a hotel in South Goa.
Train proceeds to Bengaluru. (22:30 hrs).
Breakfast onboard.
